Make a
Difference Day is a national service
day that is dedicated to neighbors helping
neighbors. On October 24, 2009, in honor
of Make a Difference Day,
Hands On hosted a family-friendly project to
help keep our neighbors warm this winter by
making "draft-stoppers"
(stuffed and decorated
fabric tubes that are placed at the bottom of a
door to keep a cold draft out).
According to the U.S.
Department of Energy, households can save 5-30%
of their energy costs by reducing drafts in a
home. Finished draft-stoppers will be
distributed to individuals and families served
by Meals On Wheels, Community Action
Opportunities, and Council on Aging.
