Hands On Asheville-Buncombe is
dedicated to linking people with
opportunities to volunteer and become engaged in
their community. Hands On partners with other
community-based organizations that need volunteer
support in order to address social, economic or
environmental needs in the community. Our programs
involve no cost to either agencies or volunteers.
In order to partner with Hands On
Asheville-Buncombe, Partner Agencies must:

Be a non-profit
501(c)(3) agency or public entity serving valid
community needs broader than the interests of its
membership
-
Have
nondiscrimination policies in place that reflect
state and federal law in regards clients served
and volunteers accepted
-
Provide services
and volunteer opportunities
within Buncombe County

Hands On Managed
Projects
We
recruit and train volunteer Project Coordinators to
manage regular, recurring projects at agencies in
Buncombe County. These projects are typically
scheduled on weekends and evenings making them
accessible to working professionals. Hands On
projects can involve activities such as cooking and
serving a monthly meal at a local shelter, leading
craft activities at an after-school program, playing
bingo with seniors, and much more.
Volunteer Referrals for Individuals and Groups
Post
your ongoing, one-time, and seasonal opportunities
for individuals and groups. Need tutors?
Office assistance? Help painting a classroom?
Visitors to our site can click on the "Have Agency
Contact Me" link and we will email you with contact
info of interested volunteers. For date specific
projects or special events you can choose to allow volunteers to sign
up online.
Publicize
Board, Committee and Internship Openings
List
your board, committee, and internship openings with Hands On
Asheville-Buncombe and reach a large, diverse group
of community members who are active and engaged in
creating positive social change in our area, many of
whom are just waiting for an opportunity to get even
more involved.
United Way's Day of Caring
Participate in our area's largest service day by
inviting volunteers to assist you with large
projects that are difficult to get done during the
rest of the year. In 2007, over 1500 volunteers
participated in
Day of Caring in support of our area's
nonprofits.
