Youth Volunteers Back To Main

Want to make a difference NOW? It takes just 5 minutes to go from good intentions to good works. Volunteering is the way to go and Hands On Asheville-Buncombe is here to help!  Just register (free and simple), then download and send in a signed youth waiver.

Easy: Log in, search our database or calendar for the projects you want, and hit “Sign Me Up” or "Have Agency Contact Me" at the end of the project description page.  Then we send you automatic reminders, directions, and anything else you need to know.

Flexible: We host a a variety of projects at multiple organizations. We know you're busy! Many of our projects occur on evenings and weekends and last about 2-3 hours. Just sign up for the projects that you are interested in and fit your schedule. If you're looking for a project where you can make a longer commitment, search for ongoing projects through United Way's 2-1-1 online searchable database.

Fun:  We are committed to making community service meaningful, rewarding, and enjoyable.  Our projects are “hands-on” and high-impact, and you’ll be working alongside dynamic people who share an interest in helping others.

Things to remember:

If you are 16 or older, you can participate in select projects on your own.  At the bottom of our Advanced Search” page, enter your age and we’ll find a project that's ideal for you. You must have a signed youth waiver on file with Hands On Asheville-Buncombe before signing up for a project.

Many of our projects are "Family Friendly" which means that youth under 16 can participate with a parent or guardian. Check the project description to find out about specific age requirements for "family friendly" projects. Youth under the age of 16 can be signed up for "family friendly" projects by contacting the Project Coordinator listed with a particular project. If youth are attending a "family friendly" project with an adult who is not their parent or legal guardian, we must have a signed youth waiver on file before the youth can be signed up for the project.

Teachers: Hands On Asheville-Buncombe is a great resource for you and your students.

  • Refer students to our website to find projects that they can do on their own or with their family.

  • Coordinate a project to do together as a group! Remember, we must have signed youth waivers on file before youth under the age of 18 can volunteer. Please contact us to help you coordinate a project for your group.
